Our mom has been here for two years. The staff has been very good to her and my sister and I. They have involved mom in activities. Mom has adjusted here very well after our dad passed away. Mom was recently in the hospital for two weeks. The nurse came to the hospital to see mom to visit her and see how she was doing. She also came to the hospital when the doctor and therapists had a meeting to discuss mom's progress. I really appreciated the nurse doing that to help me understand what was being said in the meetings by the hospital staff. They have been attentive to mom now that she is back to the assisted living. Making sure she is doing ok and doesn't need any help.

The staff is wonderful with my brother. My brother has been at York Place for over 7 years, he loves the food, the activities. It is small enough that everyone knows the staff and the residents! I couldn't recommend a better place for him to be!

My dad is finally gaining weight! He is eating very well! Dad has found a good friend here! The care has been very good and we are happy. The food is good here and the staff is great! [Name removed] decorates every holiday and always has the place spotless. [Name removed] is the best chef - everyone loves her food!

We appreciate the staff so much! Everyone is very friendly, kind and responsive. The care is wonderful. My personal experience with the food is good. Never been anything that is distasteful. We really like family night and i think the excitement is a "Biggy" for the residents. Family night encourages the families to come. When it comes to activities the calendar has plenty.

We are so fortunate to have York Place. I love the staff and how they treat my mother. I wouldn't mind being here myself as I get older, but I want the staff that is here now (LOL). We always feel warm and welcome as family when we come in as we are a part of our loved ones lives. The food is great and the care is excellent!!!

I cannot praise High Plains Alzheimer's Special Care Center enough for how they treated me and my family at this stage of my husband's life. [Name removed] and [name removed] were very compassionate when we went to visit the facility before my husband was moved there. He was there for only a short time but the nurses and staff were amazing. Thank you for such great care.

My Mom, [name removed], moved to McKinney Place mid June of 2018 and was there when she passed away [date removed]. Mom had been in a few other homes. I found McKinney to be the most professional, most dedicated and genuinely caring of all. Mom didn't like to socialize even though it was good for her. The staff encouraged and she ate meals for the first time more outside her room than inside. She loved Pepsi cola. The staff always made sure she had Pepsi, sometimes even buying some themselves, before we could get to town. Because I live in Chicago, the staff ALWAYS helped my Mom with the phone when I called , sometimes using their own personal phones. Truly a phenomenal place. i always enjoyed my visits.

When we brought our mom to the building it was a hard transition for the whole family but the CSM and the staff was so helpful and nice that it made it alot easier.

The staff are wonderful and my mom loves being there. Her apartment is beautiful and the building is very clean. She has been receiving therapy and is nice because they have an in house therapy group. She is getting stronger and healthier because of the caringness of everyone. Highly recommend!!!

When I walked into this community it smelled wonderful. Very homey, staff greeted me at the door. All the residents where engaged in activity and looked very happy. When touring again no smells at all!! This community is beautiful especially the bistro. It has two court yards and massage therapy table that is accessible for residents. The exercise room has alot of equipment. They have their own in house therapy!!! I would highly recommend this community!!!! They have Aging in Place which means if your loved one declines they will not recommend to a long term care but will bring in third party providers to help. This is amazing just what I was looking for!!!

Wonderful caring staff. Facility is beautiful, apartments are spacious. Good food, with such friendly staff. [name removed] always greets us in the dining room, the food is good and portions are big. Dear Family, Friends and Old Navy Buds; I'd like to bring you all a little up to date on how things are going for Mom ([Name removed]to most of you that know her well ~ Dutch name) She's 98 and all things considered, she's doing quite well. All in all, I think I've finally found the right place for her, it's called MONROE PLACE here in Bloomington (Indiana). We've been there a little over 3 months and for the first couple of months it was quite interesting but routine. It's quite a neat place actually. It has a Cottage atmosphere designed around two enclosed courtyards. It lends itself to interesting walks with the walls decorated with some really neat images of different landscapes and country homes. She's gotten used to her studio apartment and the layout there, has made some really good new friends and generally has been happy with all activity that's going on..............it's a very social atmosphere there........everyone seems to know her name.......and lunch and dinner are kind of social hour get-together's .........however in late December she had an accident; a fall in the parking lot. Just after Christmas She and I had walked out to the car and when she was opening the riders side door to get in she tried to step back a little and tripped backwards over the curb. Although she landed in the grass, kind of setting down backward, she tried to break her fall with her right hand and arm, fracturing it just below the shoulder joint. The Orthopedic doctor doctor told us he didn't recommend surgery given her age and bone condition and recommended an arm sling and Occupational therapy. (therapy was at MONROE PLACE). In looking at the Xray he said the fracture really wasn't as bad as it looked.....but was going to take a some time to heal. Her arm, all the way down to, and including her right hand turned black and was very swollen. It's now February 6, a little over a month has passed and we had our last visit with the Orthopecic doctor. The arm is now out of the sling and she will continue to take Occupational therapy 3 days a week (At Monroe Place) but shes about 85 % recovered. ........I see I'm beginning to write a book.........sorry about that.......I'll write again before too long.........Take care......[Name removed]

The move to Hamilton Place was very easy. We moved mom on a very wintry Saturday. Everyone at Hamilton Place helped with the move and made mom feel very welcome. She has adjusted very well and keeps telling me how friendly and caring everyone is. This is a smaller community and just right for mom. She calls it home and I couldn't be happier that she is happy.

We made a very difficult decision to place our mother in a senior center with levels of care, following the death of our father and her subsequent health decline. After a diligent search, we found Monroe Place to be the best solution for her. The individual rooms are apartments and we found the 1 bedroom apartment with separate living quarters, to be the perfect size for her. During her stay, the management staff was consistently friendly, professional and very caring. They treated us more like an extended family. The nurses were attentive, personable, very professional and demonstrated that they truly cared. The facility offers housekeeping, laundry, three meals per day and gentle reminders for the residents that it is meal time. In our case, it was extremely advantageous as they offered onsite physical therapy which our mother required and the therapists hhelped her a lot -- again professional, caring and they know their jobs. The onsite beauty/barber shop was much appreciated, with reasonable prices and friendly stylist who did a fabulous job. The attendants who provided care were always visible, friendly and ready to help and the maintenance person treated my mother and residents (that I observed) as they were the most important part of his day. I was extremely impressed with the on-boarding process - we were greeted by residents who knew our mother was new to the facility and she was assigned to a table where the residents were very friendly and seemed to sponsor her as she adapted to her new environment. To be honest, our mother was not ready for this transition and at times, she found the transition to be difficult, the staff assisted with this as much as they could. The only criticism that we have, is that the food is so-so. Our mother and other residents, would site this as a concern for them. I ate there a few times to test this and I found it was fair, not great but fair. Microwaves and refrigerators are in the rooms. Someone is there around the clock for the residents and the facility is secured- this was a huge relief for us. There is a friendly resident rescue dog who wonders the halls and is a member of the community. There is no routine shuttle transportation provided for residents, but I worked with the staff and they assisted me in finding options should we require these services. Tip: Williams Brothers Pharmacy offers prescription medicine delivery and if your loved one is required to have the nurse medicate them, make sure and have their medications bubble packed through the pharmacy. I would highly recommend this facility and this outstanding staff.
