Robbins Brook has been through a change of hands in ownership since we have been here, but it seems to be a change for the better. It's a nice looking community, and the staff are just wonderful. The care services have been a bit spotty during the transitional period, but they're improving.

We toured this location when we were looking for memory care for my Mom, and it was a very nice looking place. However, it was also expensive, quite a bit more than others we looked at. We ended up choosing another location, but we had no complaints about this one other than the price.

Expensive, but a diligent, warm, inviting and caring place for folks in need. They honestly seem to like the people in their care. All the necessary services are available under 1 roof. Staff and residents appear to like each other and their surroundings. If there is a problem, solutions are forthcoming. Residents are allowed to be themselves. Staff are not condescending and a real effort is made to make the living environment as home like as possible under the circumstances.

We toured this location while we were looking for options for my in-laws, and it was very nice looking. It was just starting up, and everything was brand new. Everything looked great, and the staff seemed friendly, but it was also fairly expensive. The location was also less than ideal for us, so we ended up selecting another community.

It's going pretty well, my mom is a difficult patient. It's beautiful and well staffed. They offer a lot of activities, but my mom doesn't participate. I chose this because the location was good and the aestetics were pleasing. I think the follow through from when one staff member determines whether or not they need something and they need to communicate it to the next person and they have let the ball drop a few times.

I had nothing to compare it to but my expectations were a little high. My dad was at the end of a very long haul and was pretty much by himself. I thought there would be more supervision, that they would be more hands on. He was in the dementia unit. The activities were pretty good. He was only there for about a month but he was starting to participate a little bit more. I thought they had a wide range of things for them to do. They had bingo and trivia, and a lot of day trips. On Sundays they had a person come in who would sing or play an instrument. The billing was very confusing. They were happy to go through it with you but it wasn't something you could figure it out by yourself. He was there for only about a month but we did pay for like 3 months. Also, we're in the middle of trying to get my father's long term care insurance and it's been a struggle getting documentation from Coachmen Square.

East Farms was very nice. It was a close contender. I like their memory care unit. It was very big but we didn't care for the way set up the billing. Her bill would have been outrageous because they have different tiers of care. It's not an all one tier program. The staff is very friendly. It's a busy and active place. It was probably the closest contender next to the place we chose.

It was nice but it just wasn't as friendly as another place. The big thing was the personality of the place. That was the selling point for my folks. I would have moved in to any one I saw, Carriage Green included. They had nice amenities and everything. It's just that the person that toured us and the feel of the place weren't as warm and fuzzy as another place.

It was very nice but they were a little pushy for me. They are one of those places that charges by the day. instead of by the month. It's a pretty place but it's very generic - that's a good word for it. They're like hotel rooms where everybody has the same room and they're very segregated from the general community. it is beautiful because it's fairly new but it's very cookie cutter.

It's a big complex. As far as the woman that I spoke with all the time, she kept in touch with me until I found a place. I went and looked at this myself and I found it to be a bit large. It was good if that was the type of facility you needed. My dad needs assisted living. He's on the cusp of that independent/assisted line. The Village was huge and very overwhelming and I wasn't even the one who would be living there so I can't imagine to put somebody that needs help in there. That was a tough one and also, the Southington area was more convenient for our family.

This community is strictly memory care. You walked in immediately to a locked secure area. We didn't really like it. It didn't help that one of the patients was incontinent and was in need of being changed. It wasn't as clean and nice odor wise as other places that I had been. I smelled urine.

Overall, Bedford Falls is a beautiful facility. Our initial impression was a very positive one. The staff is gracious, understanding, compassionate, and genuinely caring about the residents and supportive of our choices and concern for Mom. They do take time to get to know each indvidual resident on a first name basis, and are always willing to help. Our family, however, does feel that the initial evaluation for selecting Mom's level of care was not as comprehensive as we would have liked. We expressed that we thought that Mom would need more care than the traditional care program in assisted living offered, but were assured that she qualified for the 'traditional' level. Five weeks later, Mom has been moved to the Harbor neighborhood for the memory imaired. Our only regret is that, had the evaluation been more comprehensive, the reality of the need for more agressive care and assistance could have been realized sooner, and we wouldn't have had to put Mom through another move so soon. She is very frail, trusting, vulnerable, and now needs to be guided and queued for her everyday living. We have placed all of our trust in the staff at Bedford Falls and hope and pray that Mom adjusts and makes new friends, and that the staff recognizes and acknowledges her every day needs. It will be so refreshing for us to know that she is safe, happy, and content, once she adjusts to this overwhelming change in her life. Sadly, the substantial monthly rate increase for her additional care, will minimize the length of her stay as a resident, since Bedford Falls is a Private Pay facility and does not accept Medicaid. We will then be faced with yet another move once her funds are depleted.

Very nice, active community. Residents seemed to be having lots of fun (I visited on Halloween). Nice, well-thought-out apartments. Saw lots of care staff. I don't think it was a perfect fit for my mother, since there is a 'Pub' and happy hour; Mom has a slight problem with alcohol and we would prefer the temptation not be there. Drive time of 75 minutes+ isn't practical. Overall a nice community, just not for us.

He liked this place but I think it was more expensive than he could afford. Certainly the apartments were very nice. When we went there we talked with a couple of residents and connected with them, the person that showed us around was pleasant. We were only there a day so I couldn't really compare the activities they have to where he is now.

They're doing a very fine job, we're very happy with them. According to my mother-the food service is excellent as far as the choices- she just thinks that how they cook the food, a lot of times it seems to be over done. I'm not sure why that is but as far as food selection, they have a wide selection, they have weight watchers, low sodium, low sugar, which is actually a big plus and star for us. I don't know who cooks or how many people are cooking and in all fairness, I haven't talked to anyone about it so they haven't gotten the chance to fix it. Otherwise everything is fine, she's very happy with it.

I think they're all very expensive, but I guess comparatively it's good. I like the openness of it, the floor plan is open which is nice, I think they could improve with their follow through on certain things, they try to be very diplomativ with you and they try to approach it in a very positive way, but I don't always feel that their follow through is 100% accurate. Some of it is "tell them what they want to hear" in a way and then the follow through may not be what they said. The reason we chose this one was basically proximity and price and also because it was specifically for people with dementia and Alzheimers and that was one of the biggest things for us. It seems more inbetween a nursing home and an assisted living without the actual nursing care that they have in a nursing home. You walk straight into the room which is an open shared living space and it's shared with a lot of people who are much more worse off than my aunt is. They have two wings and I think one wing has people who are more on her level and I wish they would mix more because she says that she wishes she had a female companion that she could talk to.
