This is the closest to me. Within walking distance. Very new, only 20 residents which can be good or bad. My Mom is the decision maker so as I see each facility I am beginning to stress the need for her to be closer to me. She has not warmed to the idea yet so I have to be patient. It has to be her idea and as long as the weather is not warm enough to convince her to take a ride to see the different places I know she will not consider a move.

Small facility but nice. Section of town could be better but not overly worriesome. The director was very attentative. Gave us lots of advice we didn't think of or possibilities we didn't know, i.e. VA benefits for mom if dad was even activated for at least 1 day. Going to try to get that info and documents. Doesn't accept ALTC directly. Future concern. Didn't have chance to very or sample food as wrong time. 1 rate covers everything, least expensive of the day, lots of visitor parking, Direct TV, made to order menu, friendly staff as we toured and introduced (some approached us i.e. outgoing), due to small size = more personable?, parking available for mom's car if need be, scooter acceptable, indoor hallways = out of summer heat, single floor in directed care area, can move to more independent area when gets better, portable call button. [removed] No on site doctor availibility.

Meeting our needs for now

This is a good community for your loved one. As a family member you do have to be involved and there periodically just to make sure that your loved one is being taken care of properly. I do feel like this community could use more help and assistance to care for the residents. They have activities like chair yoga, word games, coloring and more for the residents to do to stay busy. It would be great if they did additional things and provide activities that would give help the exercise.

Better Management Needed

After touring several assisted living facilities in the Naperville/Plainfield areas, Harbor Chase of Plainfield felt like the right place for my mother. The apartments were very spacious compared to the competition and the prices were comparable. My mother has been living there a little over 3 weeks and seems happy. The administrative side on the other hand is not well run. The Director of Sales was new and misquoted service level pricing, made multiple pricing mistakes on the paperwork, sent incomplete paperwork to our lawyer for review, and gave misinformation several times on how the medication management options worked. When I came to pick up the keys which were supposed to be at the front desk they weren't available. When I mentioned to the Executive Director that the Director of Sales made several mistakes all she said was that she was new. The Executive Director is relatively new also. She didn't even ask for input. I've worked in sales and marketing for 14 years and consider this unprofessional for senior management. In addition, a nurse tried to give my mother the wrong medication at the dinner table. They also have been giving her magnesium daily that came from the nursing home but didn't show it should be given in their notes. The notes from the NP show that my mother should be weighed weekly and should see the dietician. She was just weighed for the first time since arriving last week and has not seen the dietician. Today my mother complained that they haven't emptied her bathroom garbage can for days. This isn't even all the little oversights that have occurred. I overheard another family member complaining about a medication dispensing error to a nurse.

Could Use Improvment

Overall, our experience with Bella Vista has been mixed. There have been some disappointments, and some things that I feel they have done extremely well. Some of the promises that were made when we moved in have not happened. I also feel that the dining experience could use improvement. They do not provide any kind of menu for the residents and the staff seems to have very low morale. The transportation is also not as constant or extensive as we were led to believe. Aside from these items, I feel that the facility has been updated very nicely, and I thought that the person who toured with us did a superb job. My loved one felt very welcomed here, and they did a great job helping her transition. There are some things that could use improvement, but there are other things that they extremely well here.

I liked this tour but could see they were dealing with a staff and management turnover. It is a private pay community. They don't accept medicaid. It was nice and clean. It just wasn't a right fit for my parents.

Bella Vista

I toured Bella Vista while looking at places for my loved one, and I liked it really well. They had a lot going on there by way of activities like painting classes, theatre, outings, and other events. It seems like a lively community, but they were not able to meet my loved one's needs, we did not move there.

Let me cater to you

This community is great. Especially when i took the tour. They have a lovely restaurant and not a cafeteria. The food is great. The only problem I have is when i moved my loved one in they closed the restaurant for remolding, now my loved ones hate the food. Other than that they offer a lot of activities and the staff is really helpful and caring to my loved ones.

I have enjoyed working with the staff.

I have enjoyed working with the staff. Yolanda is very personable, we like her very much. They are working hard to accommodate the level of care we need. We had a bit of an issue early on where laundry and things weren't getting done. The initial on-boarding wasn't as smooth as one would hope. My loved one hates the food. It looks like they have a lot going on for activities, and they go on an outing once a week. We originally thought that they had shuttle service for appointments, but it's not consistent, and transportation services aren't as convenient if you need to cross county lines.

Living at Bella Vista

My parents moved into Bella Vista two months ago. The staff is very friendly. The dining room service is slow, I believe they need to hire more staff in dining room. Once renovations are complete, Bella Vista will be right up there with some of the other beautiful independent living facilities. Response time from management team could be improved. All in all Bella Vista is a very nice place. The residents are very friendly.

great choice

I arrived not having viewed the apartment that i had been given...it was not the renovated one i had loved when i had visitedonths before. They quite quickly switched me to a renovated one. The people here were welcoming, the staff arent adverse to giving hugs. The meals are fantastic, really varied with full restaurant menu available if you dont want the special...I love the specials. I'd like another planned bus trip for shopping, but there are a couple of days when the driver can take you to other places. I love my choice
