My husband is extremely unhappy here. He will not join in any activities. I feel like I was able to take better care of him at home. He just lays in bed all day unless I am here. He doesn’t particularly like the food although it looks very appetizing.

When we left they had activities person leave. Planned movies across the hall from my dad room never happened. My sister had to ask and after living there 4 months they figured how to operate movie so he finally see a movie. Assisted living was not something he could adjust to. My dad was there a total of 8 months. He grew tired of things that bugged him after a time. Menus not posted ahead of time. He got that weekly which made him happy. Excursions to casinos happened right before he left. He wished it could have been earlier. The place was nice just not what he wanted.

While everyone looked to be receiving good care, and the facility looked clean and welcoming, we did not choose Ivy Park due to the administrative staff not being upfront about costs. We made it well into the process, but realized at assessment that we were misquoted on costs for such things as medication management. We were sorely disappointed at the added costs, hundreds of dollars above ($[removed]+ above quote) above quote when touring. I understand that this is a business, but to be strung along like this, when they knew the costs were already high, was not just wrong, it was unethical. Sorely disappointed. When I confronted the tour guide, her response was defensive and rude, instead of being apologetic and humble. She came across like a different person than the sweet and caring guide we had worked with for several months while making this decision. That tells me a lot. My mom was in tears today, which was heartbreaking.

The facility is lovely and the food is excellent. There are no outside bus trips that I know of except for Wednesday lunch at various restaurants. The main problem is that the staff sometimes say things will happen and they don't happen and we get charged for things that don't happen Please be aware that this facility definitely caters to those individuals without any cognitive impairment.

I'm not sure if would recommend others . We've had problems there. They don't really take care of them like they should (memory care). We had to hire someone to take care of our mom during the night because she kept falling. The person that takes care of her told us that they don't see her every 2 hours like they should

There have been some issues... like an elevator that was out for 3-4 weeks and my mom was "trapped" in her wing on the 3rd floor which is only accessed by that one elevator. Also some confusion about what exactly we are paying for in "extra services", as it seems like they aren't doing what we are paying extra for. However my mom is very challenging to work with so it is partly my mom's fault, because they try to help her and she says no. But then maybe we shouldn't be charged? Some of the hallways aren't in tip top shape, needs new carpeting, but overall the place is kept very clean. Staff are as friendly as one would hope. Again, especially since my mom is difficult... they are patient and try their best to help her utilizing different tactics. But sometimes she asks a question to the front desk and is met with "you'll have to ask your family about that" (when it's a simple question say, about her phone... how to turn the ringer off or on....., I'd hope they would just answer her question!) The quality of care is questionable simply because it's not consistent. I also wish they could play a bigger role in helping my mom choose foods for her meals that are appropriate for a diabetic. They notice she is eating pancakes, for example but don't say anything to her... she desperately needs help In This category. The value is fine for the area. One of the lowest prices in this area. Paying for the "extra" services seems confusing and the cost of that doesn't always make sense.

We picked them because of the price at first. Care fees are too cover nail service, battery service for hearing aids, a couple of other things. We both laughed when we heard that. She's never received ANY OF THAT!!!!! I requested a pro rate or something to be done, I had to ask 3 times before it was looked into. And then when is was, no one would explain it to me.

My room for the price is far superior to the one at my previous apartment. The health aids are very nice and helpful. When I first arrived I was lost. There was no one to welcome me. At my other place I met my ambassador the afternoon I arrived. He invited me to dinner and was there the first week to show me around and to tell me about activities etc are offered. The dining experience here is awful and the food could not be worse. The servers don’t know what they are doing and they run out of food. Some servers are rude and don’t come if you want them.

1. Used to absolutely love it, but things have changed in the past 2 years, and not for the best, in my opinion. 2. Quite clean. They do have some sort of recurring, multi-location issue with a water leak that smells like sewage, but they handle it quickly. The staff are very conscientious about keeping things clean and neat. 3. We love the staff. From the front door reception to the kitchen to the floor staff/caregivers... they are caring and patient and dote on their residents. The change in corporate ownership, however, has been a challenge resulting in a lot of turnover. Most of the staff with whom we've become close have left, and there are quite a few new people who are still learning their role. 4. We've had some issues, but the staff have been responsive. 5. There seems to be a good variety and attention to dietary needs. 6. There used to be activities running multiple times a day, and an activities director with boundless creativity and energy who led them... they used to take a group offside for short trips to have lunch or go to the park, etc, but that seems to be over now. I have seen bingo being played sometimes, and word games on the TV in the common room, but overall, the atmosphere is decidedly more sedentary and television-based. A musician visits the facility periodically, and everyone seems to enjoy that. 7. I don't know if it measures up to the standard we found when we first placed Trudy there. She's comfortable and safe; she has opportunities to eat good food and she gets the care we could not safely provide at home, and for that, we are very thankful. There are things I find very frustrating and that does color my opinion of the facility.

They have a very high turnover of staff. Lots of things fall under the rug. My mom was on the med program and they incorrectly dosed her, gave her wrong meds, gave her meds wrong time of day, said they'd do daily check ins and didn't but charged us for it. Part of rent is for the apartment to get cleaned once a week and my moms been there for 4 months and her room has only been cleaned 3 times and all 3 of those times we had to specifically ask multiple times for since they didn't do it on the normal cleaning day. The staff is friendly but many things that you pay a lot of money for and are promised don't actually happen and when you try to point that out and ask why things are not happening, it takes weeks to get a real answer and nothing is really done about it. The only reason she's still there is because they're one of the only places around here that offer a very low income option and it's the only places we can afford. They had the only elevator out for 2 months and residents in walkers were leaving their walkers at the top of the stairs and hobbling down 3 flights of stairs because there was supposed to be a staff member taking residents down the staff elevator but they rarely answered the phone or responded and residents were extremely unsafely trying to get themselves up and down flights of stairs and having to walk around without their walkers.

As a result of pneumonia, my mom has become bedridden and is now in hospice care, so she has graduated to the maximum tier of the care fee schedule, while she no longer participates in group activities. She is on a puree diet, which the facility has accommodated. In addition, there was a rate increase (both rent and care) this month. In addition, there has been a lot of turnover in many critical positions, including the memory care director (turned over twice since my mom moved in). They seem to be suffering from the nationwide staffing shortage, and I see new faces frequently. From my observations, the caregivers are caring and kind, but they are stretched thin, and I worry about burnout.

The care team has had many issues getting to the clients in a timely manner waits of 11/2 hour due to understaffing. It was our understanding that we would only have to wait 5 to 7 minutes after a service call unfortunately that has not been our case. They have just recently changed him so most of my complaints are about the caregivers or lack there of the shortage so hopefully it will be resolved with the new ownership. That is our hope.

When we first moved my mom in, they used tablecloths for evening meals. It made it homey and fancy at one time. Since the new company has changed things, they no can no longer have the tablecloths. Maybe due to cost? A complaint was filed from the residents but not brought back. They have way too much pasta for meals. Again cheaper?? They have changed cheifs a couple times. The activities director has also changed. They don't do enough to engage physical activity for those able, mostly older chair bound or walker dependent residences. They cancel a lot of activities if the activities director fills in for another staff member out sick. Maybe just too small of a place for my mom, but it was close to my house and looked great at first, then the changes started happening with the Oak Park buy out. Needless to say my mom has not been happy. And now we've been hit with a <fee removed> rent increase after being there one year.

Mom has been living there for three months. At first all residents seemed friendly, but after a few weeks, it was clear there are "clicks" that are not welcoming to all. This is just like middle school and even though the facility has a "no bullying" policy, nothing is done to help those who do not feel welcome in the dining area and at activies. The facility has a policy that if a resident does not want to sit with someone else, they need to leave the situation and not the person they do not like. This is not enforced and has caused a great deal of anxiety and unwelcomeness. This should not happen to people this age who should be living their golden years, happy and relaxed. It's too bad, as the facility is nice and clean and the staff if very friendly. If the facility would simply enforce their policies, this could be fixed fairly quickly.
