Substantial decline in quality and value since management change in 2024

Food has gone downhill since ownership / management change. My dad says that yesterday alone, at breakfast, they were out of coffee, orange juice, milk, eggs, and napkins. At least 3 current residents are considering moving to Watercress. The A/C has been down multiple times since my dad moved in a year ago. The security gate is frequently not working - it's become something we regularly joke about. There's an open hole in the ceiling of my dad's unit that's been left for months. It's not large, but it's still there and hasn't been addressed since the maintenance crew made the hole to repair a sprinkler in the ceiling. The elevator is frequently broken or not working. Kind of a problem since my dad is on the second floor. Staff turnover is alarming. NOTHING has been the same since management changed. Services provided for the residents have gone downhill. It has become grossly apparent that new management is only interested in their profit margins, not AT ALL in the residents.

Would not recommend, many false promises

They committed to several things when I toured that turned out to be very untrue. There were no reduced sodium meals as promised, they very poorly handled the power outages after the hurricane. The dining/ kitchen staff were very rude and could be very hateful. The transportation to appointments turned out to be less than desirable. Overall, the price is outrageous. I moved from the Landing in August. I attempted to discuss the problems more than once and also wrote a letter to the home office. It was obvious they didn't care.

Recommend improvements

Staff inconsistent with how they treat some residents. Facility has issues with air conditioning maintenance in summer months where residents are without air all day. Recommend this be maintained in winter months. Today, gas service is down all day and limits food for today. I would recommend them however they do have some room for improvement.

My husband was only there for 29 days. Friendliness of staff was good. Value for cost was good. I didn't eat there so not sure about food. He was on hospice so lots of care needed as he kept falling and had thin skin that needed to be bandaged everyday. They provided almost constant care before he died.

The only complaint here is that mom has had to be taken by ambulance to the ER on 2 occasions and there has been no transportation to get her home. My sister has had to come from over an hour away to bring her back to the facility. The staff is wonderful with my mom. The activities are great although mom chooses not to participate. Review for The Terraces at Kingwood Town Center

It's not the same place since the management change. Quality control has gone down. Food is not good anymore. Tasteless. Chicken served all the time; rarely any beef or other type of meat. There are constant issues with the security gate. Frequently must call front desk for assistance to get in. Elevator is frequently out of service. There are not enough washers and dryers for all the people that use them. Also not conveniently located on both sides of the hallways. This facility should have an emergency generator given the FREQUENCY of power outages in Kingwood. A resident died the last time the facility lost power. Wait staff in kitchen frequently must be hollered at to get their attention so residents can be waited on. Treadmills in the exercise room are for small people only. Those residents who are taller or larger cannot appropriately use them. So, free exercise equipment is not a selling point for larger individuals. And most of us who need to use them are larger.

The Auberge at Aspen Park

There are some really difficult patients at the Auberge. My Dad was not one of those but he was situated in their midst. I felt he needed to be in another area of the facility. I never felt there were enough care givers around. The Auberge is a large facility so helpers are literally spread very thin. It was not a very intimate/homey place for my Dad. The distance to the dining room was way too far and consequently confusing for my Dad to get there. The food however was always good and I enjoyed meals with my Dad many times. The staff, (though not enough of them), did the best they could to look after him but he was always alone somewhere in the facility when I visited. I had to track him down on several occasions. I think we could have found a better fit for him and at a better price. We were paying for skilled nursing and an on staff Dr. that didn't really seam to make any difference.

My loved one was previously a resident at Arbor Oaks Terrace Memory Care. The care was good, but the management was terrible. I had an issue with billing that is still ongoing. I can't get an answer to my many phone calls. I wouldn't recommend this facility to others.

Escalante at The Lake

Here's the challenge with the facility: 1. When my mom moved in in June 2023, we were advised that they were in the process of transferring the license of the van from another owner, but that the van service (which provides transportation to activities, doctors appointments, casinos, and shopping) would likely be operational within a month or so. The license was finally transferred around November or December, but there is no driver. As such, my mom has had to spend money out of pocket or rely on third parties to get her to the places that were promised as a part of the fee. I personally offered suggestions regarding alternatives that were not taken up. 2. There remains an issue with security. When my mom first moved to Escalente, you could freely enter at all times day and night. Now, if she leaves and returns after 8 or 9 p.m., the doors are locked and she waits at least 5 minutes for someone to come and unlock the door from the inside. There is no 24 hour security in the building. Further, I am not convinced that in the event of an emergency or fire, the residents could get out of the building without the assistance of a staff member who has to reach up to unlock the doors. 3. There are no regular, ongoing scheduled activities for the residents. Although they do have some activities, they are not conducted daily for the residents. 4. Many of the friends that my Mom made during her stay have elected to move elsewhere. To her, it feels like the place is empty and we are trying to keep her from falling into a state of depression. Since her condition has improved, it will no longer be necessary for her to live in an assisted living facility and so we are moving her

Coventry/Frontier Management owes our family a refund

I wish this negative review wasn’t necessary. We appreciate all that Coventry at Escalante provided for mom. We have a contract and we paid every cent on time, never questioned or hesitated to pay as prices went up. Mom passed on Dec 1st, we gave the keys back on [date removed] after emptying her apartment and leaving it clean. Per our contract we are owed 15 days rent as they pulled the full months rent out of her account on December 1st. We have been asking for the refund, and have complied with every request by Frontier Management, the parent company. We have not received a response since we submitted the required request. This is the last financial item to settle moms estate. Please contact me or my sister listed on the return email you recieved. If this is resolved quickly, I will write a positive review.

Over promised under delivered.

The staff was convincing. And the facility was nice. They will sound very accommodating until they have your loved one. She didn't have a shower for 2.5 weeks because she said she didn't want one. She was hospitalized for a life threatening UTI as a result.

Disappointed

Sales person lied about elevators being on generators when we looked at place. Manager [name removed] is responsive and helpful as was other sales person Lauren. All residents are very nice. Just need more help in the dining room. To go io on price with all that has happened this past year is wrong.

Physical care is adequate, but mental stimulus is lacking

I wasn't impressed with Oak Hills Terrace Memory Care. They kept losing my loved one's things. They advertised how they kept them busy, but all I ever saw was that they put them in front of the TV. I did like nurse [Name removed], he tried really hard.

Heartis Longview review

The staff members at Heartis Longview are very nice and genuinely seem to care about the residents living there, however they could be some room for improvement based on our experience so far.

Beautiful location but a little short staffed

The place was beautiful but they were short staffed. I was there 6 weeks and my room was cleaned once. Some of the staff were very nice but others were grumpy and annoyed when you called them. The regular meals were so bad I took to ordering groceries, but some of the special order meals were good. It was very noisy particularly in my room which was near where the staff hang out to chat at 4am

tour review

Our family had an in person tour experience with Escalante at Coventry and overall we thought the tour experience was good but the rooms we were shown were just to small for our loved one and therefore was not going to be a good ft.

Auberge Experience

The meals were good. They have a good chef. With COVID still around, I understand they feel this protocols need to stay in place but it's so cumbersome and frankly annoying but we complied for safety of all. Just need more staff around. My loved one was in a difficult area of the facility and he was alone A LOT! Nobody had the time to sit for a few minutes and just have a little conversation. You won't be able to build any trust if people don't get familiar with you and I worried about some patient interactions. I felt my Dad had minimal attention to develop rapport with anyone. Those that were there were kind to us and him when they were around. They also had a terrible time keeping track of patient's personal things but I understand this can be a problem at at facility especially when they are tasked with laundry. A lot of my loved ones things (slippers for example) we never saw again. Also, This facility is a skilled nursing care situation and they have more difficult and needy patients/guests. As such, it is a little more generic in feel. I think it may not have been the ideal arrangement for my loved one, but for the most part, he was well cared for... and most residents seem to do fine. Also, because there is a physician and nurses on staff full time, the cost is quite high with the care levels added.

A nice community with areas of improvements

We cannot comment on the meals and dining as we haven't seen the food and [name removed] is picky. When it comes to the activities they do offer a good variety of different things for the residents to do. For the value for cost, I don't believe any facility is worth the amount that is charged. They could improve on the overall communication
