A little too expensive but really nice place.

Met with the director...non smoking but she said she would work with dad...go to edge of property...Male activities director...residents were bowling )Wii) when I got there...pby 10-12 in main living room. Set up in neighborhoods. Hall with culdesac, 6 rooms..each hall has it's own dining and tv room. Can eat anywhere they want, view tv any where they want...menu placed on table...residents choose in advance what they want to eat...has an always menu on table, grilled cheese and chef salad on always menu. quite nice choices for meals...end of month having a guys steak and beer night at the grill. rooms very nice...307 sq ft small...I really liked the Studio Plus..almost divided into sleeping area and living room area...lg bathroom, great closet...mail deliver to box just outside door...cable extra, phone also ...slightly larger room with kitchenette (fridge, microwave, cabinet storage, above and below $300 more a month....not worth it...just get fridge...studio and studio plus ovelooked gardent, patio..dad can watch wildlife...studio delux ovelooked back parking lot, but that's where the deer and rabbit show themselves. studio plus is being redecorated, new carpet, paint, but bath has pbm with heat...100 degrees in there. Room was comfortable. No odors, not institutional smell, no cooking smells like cedar land...very clean...everyone friendly...didn't see much staff...one CNA with med cart...will go to dad or he can go to them. must rq night check Room $2050 per month plus personal assistance service diff levels #1 $0, #2 $300, #3 $600, #4 $900, #5 $1200 #6 $1500...they will schedule someone to evaluate DAD in MD and again when he arrives. would need VA assistance

I thought this place was lovely, but the location is a little far out to be able to visit daily.

Looks very nice. Have an aunt living there 5 years. Know people who have family members living there as well. Near hospital.

The grounds are beautiful and the staff is very friendly and kind. My biggest problem was with the apartment. It was small and dark and depressing, and had problems with infestation of bugs, specifically cockroaches..I told management and they said it would be taken of, but wasn't. As a retired chef, the tiny kitchen was frustrating and difficult to work in The new cheap flooring leaked glue and always felt wet, which was unpleasant. Several parcels had been delivered to the front desk, which disappeared. Many activities were offered, which was nice. In general, the demographics were a little too old for me. Also, only 3 washers and dryers to accommodate the entire building made doing laundry challenging. As an insomniac , I would use the laundry at 1 or 2 am because there were so many people needing the facility during the day and evening.

With covid they had a huge loss of staff and are operating short handed. Service in the dining room is operating super slow. The administrator is extremely effective, but does not have the nicest bed side manner. Up until now, the food has been good. They did just change companies so now an outside company is providing meals and I am already hearing complaints about the new menu. I do think they could improve on the cleanliness of certain parts of the facility. My mom loves it and if I had to do it over again, I would definitely still put her here. Overall it has been a great experience, they could just use some improvements.

My friend's needs are more memory-related than general assisted living, and I don't know how equipped they are to handle that outside of memory care. But I am very grateful that my friend is there, and they're able to help her with showering and things when she needs it. They're trying their best to get her to come down to meals and participate in activities. It has been a little vexing that a mirror that we reported broken still hasn't been replaced yet. The biggest challenge it seems at all of the facilities we looked at, including Huntington Place, is the activities. I would love to see some exercise opportunities for her. The trips to Walmart are great. What she really needs is someone to accompany her in the store, which I understand is more of a memory care function vs. assisted living. I think if we had it to do over again, we would request medication management as well. That's on me, just something I've learned along the way. But the apartments are head over heels above the other places we looked at. They're so pretty. Everything is brand new and modern. The kitchen faucet is beautiful, as is everything about the interior unit. The staff seem very nice. I think they're understaffed, but those they do have are very good. I never received a list of who to call with various issues, so I tend to go to the executive director. And she has been fantastic in her responses to me. The food I tried at the midday meal was surprisingly pretty good, although I would have liked to have seen more vegetables. One of the things I think is unique about Huntington Place is that even though they have some clients who seem farther along in dementia than my friend, ones who sit in their wheelchair and sleep all day, there is always a staff member who sits right there with them so they're not isolated. There is someone always there monitoring and checking on them. Which is an excellent feature. They also have a little general store on site, although we thought that's where you could get snacks. But we have yet to figure out how to access the snacks. . . I also appreciate that when there was a Covid outbreak, they shut down visitation for a brief time. Overall I think they do a great job, and we got in on a special that makes it an excellent value.

We have to take our loved ones experience each day with a grain of salt, some days she is very with it, and other days she is very confused. However the staff have been very responsive, they run a clean place and it is well appointed. They provide entertainment shows for the residents daily.

The staff members are all wonderful, and we really enjoy all the people and the physical location of the community. They are working on fixing things bit by bit within the community but they have good response times.

I would tell my friends that as long as your parents are in good enough care, then it would be a good place. If your medical care, even if it is small, it is very hard to get communication. There seems to be lack of communication and everyone doesn't know what they are doing, this is in reference to communication. The community as a whole is friendly. The staff and residents are pretty good that way. They mean well. It isn't a good place for anyone who isn't completely independent.

Having made one friend in four years at Heartlands, I find the facility to be big-city cold. Before the quarantine, I was part of a warm, friendly, six-member regular dinner group, which ended daily with, "See you tomorrow." I now am at the end of 4 months of devastating isolation, from which one of my daughters rescued me a few days ago. In defense of my people skills, I was a psychiatric RN and a Methodist Minister's wife, unable to break the ice at Heartlands. The place needs a warm country heart.

The community is pretty clean. The staff is usually pretty good. The floor nursing staff is excellent and are very friendly and responsive. Before the Covid-19 pandemic, the people who were in charge of coordinating services like PT or OT, weren't very responsive to our requests, especially since our loved one had some very particular needs. The actual individuals giving the care have been quite good. Sometimes they are slow to communicate with us regarding changes in our loved one's care. Also before the pandemic, they were always featuring resident's art in the common areas of the community. They do seem to have attracted a good variety of different kinds of programming available for the residents. They seem to be a little weak in the memory care services area. They do have a memory care department, although they really were not well equipped to deal with the needs associated with memory care. For those who are more mobile, this would community would be a good fit. But, for those who need a higher level of care, perhaps not.

My grandma chose to go here straight from rehab after a fall. She doesn't seem happy. It was a big change, she lived in a beautiful condo, now she lives in something like a hotel room, with a mini fridge and a really loud air conditioner like you would have in a hotel. So it's not very homey to me. I've been talking to her about moving to a place that would be more like her condo. She's also not allowed to go any where without an approved person picking her up. So she can't call a cab to go to Publix. They don't do bus outings or transportation. They also didn't want her seeing her own eye doctor, they wanted her to go to one of their doctors. I found all this to be strange. She's her own power of attorney. I just wish I could get her to consider someplace else where she would be happy. She says the food is good and there's lots of activities. For me it was really sad to visit her there, I felt like she was living in a hotel room just waiting to die or something. Cut off from the world, and unable to do the things she once loved to do. I know she is limited due to mobility issues, but they won't let her do anything herself which will just cause her to become more immobile.

My sister moved in Five Star this past year and has adjusted well. The place is clean; most staff are helpful; varied activities and transportation to local stores, bank, trips etc. Sometimes the Dining Room Coordinator has been abrupt; or rushing us out before our bills were paid. One time when my sister came in for her birthday with 2 friends, the Coordinator said to her before being seated that she had to leave by 6:15. I was shocked at the impoliteness upon arriving on time for the meal. My biggest complaint is the cafe not being open daily as noted in the resident handbook. Often it is closed 2-3 times a week. My sister enjoys the breakfast and lunch menus. It is unfortunate that management has not resolved this chronic problem. A separate person (not an employee from the dining room) needs to be hired so the residents can take advantage of this service that is supposed to be provided. I trust that management will attend to this. It will make many residents happy including my sister.

I am very happy with the care that my wife receives at Heartfields. The facility does a good job.

Most aspects very good , better on first shift than off shifts. No maintenance on the weekends can be an issue.
