Five Star Senior Living

My loved one was here for a brief respite stay, and overall I thought they did a fantastic job! They were very attentive to her right from the first day, and all throughout her stay! She loved the room they put her in, it was very cozy and even had a little porch to sit outside on. They also had a very busy activity schedule! They had all sorts of games and events, as well as frequent trips out to parks, shopping, restaurants, etc. They also have a very nice restaurant style meal service, where you get to pick what you'd like off of a menu. I really can't say enough about how pleased we are with this place, she really enjoyed her stay here!

I pretty much like everything. I really don't have any complaints. I find them to be very, very kind. My mother has dementia. They seem to go over and above to make sure she was comfortable. They constantly reassure her, tell her everything was OK. There are a wide variety of activities for residents to do there. My mother mostly gets involved in things that had to do with music. She unfortunately isn't much of a joiner. The location is ideal for us, because I have seven brothers and sisters, and that is kind of centrally located in Washington township.

We're very pleased with how things have gone at Heartlands so far! The staff are very friendly, very pleasant and calming, and extremely helpful in whatever we've asked of them. They are worth a look, if you are looking into options in the area!

My loved one suffers advanced Alzheimer's disease and has lived in the memory care unit on the second floor since 2009. He is very comfortable and content at the Five Star. The program for entertainment and memory support is excellent and highly interactive. I visit regularly and appreciate the compassionate caring staff members. The residents on this floor are treated with respect and dignity. Nurses call me to let me know of needs as they arise. The cost is very reasonable for this level of care. I have compared the prices in multiple other memory care facilities. i observed that my loved one was content from day 1 when the family placed him here. He seemed more comfortable to be in the company of individuals suffering the same memory challenges he suffers rather than struggling with my help in public and in his old home. I immediately realized he is safer in a memory care unit than he ever was at home. He previously wandered away twice and it caused great worry. We also had challenges with potential kitchen fires. Another wonderful thing about the Five Star is they allow me to bring my dog to the memory support unit and encourage interaction with all interested residents. I always feel a sense of upbeat happiness, music, and nice decor while visiting. Residents have freedom on the protected floor to walk around in many different areas including a safe outdoor terrace. It is a wonderful place and I am truly thankful to the superb staff I have come to know over the years.

It's very clean and the staff is very friendly. The money that you spend is well worth it for the care. There are certain caregivers that go above and beyond, and there are certain ones that just want to get the job done. There are some younger girls that don't know how to handle the dementia as well as the older ones. Maybe just a little more dementia training for the younger ones, would be good. When we have spoken to management and they have done much better. I love it there, and he loves the food. It looks very appetizing and smells great.

So far things have gone very well with Aspenwood Senior Living! The facility is nice looking, and they keep everything looking clean and well kept. The staff are all very friendly, and they respond quickly to any needs or requests that she has. Everyone at the community seems happy, well taken care of, and well fed!

We're very happy with Meadowmere Oak Creek Senior Living. The staff is very nice and accommodating.. The transition was very easy, and they worked well with the family. My loved one is very happy, a d adjusting well.

They do a very good job at Dogwood Forest of Gainesville. The staff are all very friendly, and attentive to the needs of the residents. The care that they provide is excellent, we've been very happy with the caregivers overall. The facility itself is clean and well kept, and the food that they serve is good as well!

The Remington Club has been great. We're very satisfied with the services. Very satisfied with the staff, care they provide, the food, accommodations, just everything. Everything is to our satisfaction.

The administrators at Riverwalk Commons were very helpful and provided any information that was requested as Mom and Dad considered the move. My parents were so impressed with the friendliness, cleanliness and warm feeling they got as soon as they entered the building, that they reserved an apartment the same day as the tour. Which was a good thing as there was only one one-bedroom apartment and one studio available at the time! The cost of their apartment was very reasonable. My parents were moving to the Noblesville area from an assisted living facility in their hometown. They are actually paying less than they were! We ate lunch at the facility on the day of the tour and other residents came up to us and introduced themselves and a couple residents even sat at the table to have lunch with us. We were impressed that many of the residents we met that day had lived at the facility for several years and they gave unsolicited good reports about Riverwalk Commons. This was a strong selling point for me as was the fact that many staff members had been there a length of time as well. It speaks volumes about a place with people want to stay. The move has been a smooth transition and staff at the facility have been friendly and have offered any assistance that we might need with the move and the transition. The other residents have been extremely friendly as well. Residents have come up to my parents and introduced themselves and some residents have come to Mom and Dad's apartment to meet them. Meals have been excellent. I have eaten lunch with them once since the move and the food and food service was just the same as it was on the day of the tour. You order from a menu a meal time and there is a good variety of foods offered. My parents do not eat chicken or turkey and my Dad is not a fan of fish. The menu has always had choices for them that they liked. The food has been well prepared and served fresh and warm. The kitchen/wait staff were friendly and joking with residents as they took food orders. The staff also knew preferences of several of the people at the table. My parents like the fact that they do not have to get up or eat meals at a set time. Riverwalk Commons staff really tries to make assisted living as homelike as possible. My parents are able to keep their desired sleeping and eating schedules. Riverwalk Commons also has a nice variety of activities including several outings. My parents like to eat out and Riverwalk takes a bus of residents out regularly to local residents. The last trip of which I was aware was to Wolfies. The restaurants chosen are those that would appeal to older adults. There were also shopping trips to Walmart. My parents could go to Walmart or visit other stores in the same strip mall with Riverwalk Commons providing the transportation. They also provided bus transportation a couple Sundays a month to the local Methodist and Catholic church. I was speaking to Dad the other evening and Rivewalk took a group to the Palladium in Carmel for a show. I am really pleased with how the staff is striving to provide the residents with a good quality of life with lots of varied activities from which to choose. There are a lot of offered activities that my parents would like to do. The location of Riverwalk Commons was a plus, too. It is close to shopping, pharmacies, and Riverview hospital. My parents are going to take advantage of the doctor who comes to the facility. It is easy for them and a comfort for me that they will not have to go out in bad weather for doctor appointments nor will miss doctor appointments due to bad weather. My parents are pretty independent and are not using many of the nursing and care services available. It is good to know that these services are there if the need should arise.

I am taking this opportunity to both write and state what a wonderful place Heartlands at Ellicott City is. I have lived here at Heartlands for 8.5 years. When I first moved here, it was with my husband (who later passed away). We were both happy. We soon made friends, and became involved in different activities that are offered here. The food is good, offering many different choices. In fact, the dining staff is open to suggestions made by the residents. The staff is always warm and helpful, and are on call 24/7. In fact, not long after my husband and I moved in, our heating and air conditioning unit broke down. It was a Sunday, but after my call, within an hour the old unit was taken out and a new one was installed. When I became ill, and was hospitalized, members of the staff called and visited me. Our director has an "open-door" policy and residents are encouraged to see her whether it be with positive or negative concerns. My husband and I had "shopped around" before choosing Heartlands and we never regretted making Heartlands our choice.

My brothers and I visited over a dozen senior assisted living facilities in the area before touring the Heartlands at Ellicott City. We were determined to find the best home we could for our mother who was unable to continue living on her own. The Heartlands appeared to us to be the best fit for her. She has been there over a year and we are very pleased with out decision - as is she. The inviting campus, clean and well kept, encourages you to visit the facility. We were offered different room floor plans from which to choose to suit our budget as well as space requirements. There is a calendar of daily activities designed to stimulate the residents' mental, physical and emotional needs. Three meals a day are provided for the assisted living residents and a new chef has improved on what was already a great dining experience. We enjoy dining with our mother a couple days a week which is a very nice option and very reasonably priced. My mother's medical needs were of paramount importance in our selection of a new home for her and the Heartlands provides the excellent care we desired. Her medications are carefully monitored and administered daily. She has access to a nurse 24/7 to attend to any extra help she may need. Her physical needs have deteriorated recently and her level of care was quickly adjusted to help ensure her safety. It's amazing how many of her medical needs can be met right on the Heartlands campus. It is a wonderful facility and it is obvious to us that the entire staff at the Heartlands really cares for the health and well being of their residents.

My husband and I came to Heartlands after visiting almost every retirement facility in the greater Baltimore area. There were many things that appealed to us about Heartlands: no large amount of money was required to "buy-in" to the community, it could house 250 residents - making it smaller than most such places, the campus was attractive and well kept, the contract we signed clearly delineated the terms of our lease and based upon other senior living residences, we felt the monthly rent covered our needs and was very fair. Our experience while living here has only exceeded those first impressions. The entire staff has been very considerate and attentive to our well-being and never intrusive. Our evening meal has always included three entrees from which to choose and the dining experience has been excellent. My husband, who had a number of physical problems, passed away last year and I have chosen to remain here. Heartlands is my home in every sense of the word and our children have said our move here was the greatest gift we could ever give them.

I had looked at several assisted living communities in the greater Boston area before deciding on the Gables. The location is convenient. The grounds are well maintained and cheerful. Above all, the entire staff is truly "5 -Star". The nursing staff are helpful and approachable and the folks that man ther front desk are knowledgeable, kind, and patient. I highly recommend the Gables community to anyone exploring assisted living communities in the greater Boston area. My mother and aunt both live there and truly, the staff truly make the Gables a positive living experience for the residents as well as for the family !

So far everything has been great at HeartLands! It's a very nice looking community, and everyone has been very friendly! They made the moving process so easy! The two girls we worked with in the marketing department really went out of their way to be available any time we needed them to help ease the process!

I had another family member that lived here for several years and was really happy. The food is pretty good, and we would have come here, but they didn't have a room available, at the time we needed one.

-For a senior that is still social, this is a perfect facility. Lots of activities during the day.. -Heartlands NEVER smells bad. -Wellness Center knows each patient and calls them by name during the day. - I know my mom is safe in this facility. - I know her meds are being given each day. Employees of Heartlands are very cheery and happy.

They seem to be taking decent care of her, but she is at a rehabilitation community as of the time of this review. I don’t have a lot of strong opinions on this community, but as I said, they seem to be doing a decent job.

My loved one was only here for a brief time, but overall I think they do a good job at Morningside of Decatur. It is a very well run facility, and they do a great job keeping everything looking clean and well kept. The staff are all very friendly, and they do a great job looking out for their residents.
