really liked the layout of garden home, especially the way the sunroom is big and the door to outside is there. I wish it had wood floors.

So far we are very impressed. The staff has been great, very friendly and helpful, and we have no complaints about the care services. We also really like the feel of the community, it has a homey atmosphere, very warm and friendly. Also the food is very good.

Very upscale with every possible contingency of daily living accounted for. This is the one that if the decision were completely up to me, I would have moved her in already. Just a few more tick marks and we will be closer to making this decision. Major 'thank you' to Cody.

So far so good we are very happy. Very clean. The cleanliness and look of the place really stood out. The food is excellent. Mom has yet to find the right bridge partner. I can't think of anything as of yet that could be improved.

I can't say one single thing bad about the place. The room was big, the room had a view, it was spectacular. It would have been the very best place. Just comparing the facilities, it was the most magnificent place that I saw. Because of medical condition of my friend, however, he was not ideal candidate. It was the same price as Emeritus, but much brighter, much better maintained, and just gorgeous. Food was delicious and the building was so beautifully maintained. Nothing else compared. Beautiful sitting areas, beautiful plants around the facility; I would move in myself.

We are very pleased with our choice to move Dad to Huntington for respite care! The staff has been exceptionally caring and accomodating. The staff is well trained in Alzheimer's care and are helping us learn how to best care for Dad too. The facility is very nice, secure, the food is wonderful, and the activities seem to be very good for Dad in helping him to be more social. We toured many places and Huntington was a shining star among them in overall quality and value. We'd highly recommend.

We are very pleased with everything that is there. They are very helpful and friendly and I think they do a great job taking care of my mother.

I like the cleanliness, the dining area, the personalization. They do call you if anything out of the ordinary happens. In the beginning I was bugging them all the time. They were very nice and they put up with me. They advised me and set me in the right direction. I think they need more men's activities. They have a lot of women's things there like needle craft. They're trying to get a men's card came going and trying to get more men together. To compensate in the meantime, dad plays poker with one of the aids. Everything works - they take of everything. It's 2 year private pay and you have to be under $26000 when you go on medicaid. Other wise they don't keep you. That rule I don't like but they have seminars there to talk about this. It was cool that they take the extra step. They bugged me to come and they had a law firm come and explain everything. It was really helpful. The nurses are good too. They all know me and him. real personal that way. We're really happy with this place.

I haven’t been there yet but I talked to him every day and I’ve talked to him every day for 12 years. His family visits him and they like it very much, he says he is very happy there, he’s having the New York Times delivered and had me sign him up for a book delivery service; he didn’t bring all of his books from his apartment and he should have. Another friend who talks to him at least 5 times a week and has been there and says it's very nice. He had a couple bad times with his heart the first month so he was in the hospital just over night, he’s settled down now and its perfectly fine, he hooked up to HBO in addition to regular TV, he’s done a couple of the things, they have a cocktail hour once a week, he’s not the most social person in the world, I told him to start his own book club but they may already have one there. He loves the linen service he says he’s spoiled. I would highly recommend to anybody who is looking for a place.

My Mother started her third week of Somerford House this weekend. She loves it; she raves about the food, exclaims how pleasant all the staff are, and is comfortable in her private room. There are activities, although my Mother is champing at the bit for painting classes. The setting is good and convenient for the family. And we have been impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of everyone in the staff.

Cody was so nice, he was just as nice as could be. We both liked almost everything about it, I couldn't come up with any complaints at all, he was so nice to work with but when it came down to it we just liked the Florida area more.

My mother and I were impressed the moment we walked in. Gracious as a five-star hotel with a lovely reception foyer and concierge, classicly appointed with numerous amenities including a large central seating area for visiting with guests. Amenities include an indoor swimming pool with aquatics classes,a fully-equipped fitness room, a large,stately library, community room used for nightly movies, speakers,religious services and concerts, an art room and card room. Dining room has a dress code in the evening (jackets for men), table cloths and fresh flowers.

Wonderful staff, beautiful setting and facilities that are structured to accommodate the needs of the residents make Somerford a perfect fit for my mother, who has dementia. My mother started out at Somerford House (Assisted Living) and now resides in Somerford Place (Alzheimer's/Dementia building) and at each residence she was treated with respect and given excellent care by the staff members. The activities director is superb and loves her job and it shows. There is plenty for the residents to do and visitors are welcomed. When my mother has fallen, I receive prompt phone calls and if necessary, transportation to the hospital for observation is readily available and organized efficiently by the staff. I go to sleep each night knowing that my mother is being taken care of and you cannot put a price on that.

Susan Atoni-Bixler made me feel welcome and went above and beyond to provide me with a view of clean, well staged apartments. Spacious with gourmet culinary breakfast and dinner. Full sized appliances, walk in closets and handicapped equipped bathrooms. One of my top 3.

Arthur Rochon conducted the tour of this property. Although it does not include the full scale amenities offered by the aforementioned properties, given my level of independence and the moving cost from California to Virginia, it appears to be the best fit for me to accomplish my goal for the short term.

Exceptional community (facility). Clean, nice smell, staff friendly and knowledgeable. Nice courtyard area, various indoor sitting areas. Safety and security emphasized. Gracious dining with many choices. All was good. Would help placement at end of LT Care Ins coverage. No Medicaid. Showed a companion rm of another lady with cat. Had odor - many apologies. 1900 open for taking plus add care level fee (Meds only) Lots of activities. Reminds resident to participate.

Mom has been at Morningview since May; we have been very pleased with the facility. The administration and caregivers are very accommodating and have made every attempt to meet Mom's specific medical needs. She likes the facility and has adjusted quite well to the programs offered as well as to the staff.

So far, this is our favorite; beautiful setting, quiet, and intimate enough for individual attention. Very nice rooms, even the 'Studio' seems more than adequate. We thought the activities were geared toward a lower-functioning patient than my mother, but perhaps I am not being objective. Truly, I can't think of anything negative. I was impressed overall, and love that it's so close to our home.

I chose Legacy for simple reasons. It is the highest rated ALF in the county, it was quaint, homey & modern. The staff did not seem overworked and very kind, compassionate people. Legacy feels more like a resort than an assisted living facility. My Dad suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm & stroke 4 years ago. My Mom recently passed from cancer and my husband and I were not going to be able to give him the time and care he needed. He needed to come out of his shell. He is unable to make any long term memories, but it is very independent otherwise only requiring some minor queues to him get through his day. His apartment is VERY spacious and warm and he is doing well so far. There are always a few hiccups in the beginning but through open communication things are being worked out for the better. It is a learning experience for us as well as the staff. The biggest thing for me was proximity to my home. Legacy is only 15 minutes from my home which makes it easy for me to spend QUALITY time with my Dad. Ballantyne is an upscale neighborhood and now HE has a better address than we do! Take tours, ask questions, do your homework. It will help put your mind at ease. You will feel guilty at first until you see them thriving. Best Wishes.
